                                                   Rejuvenation

It was late in the year 2012, and a calamity had befallen the earth. An earthquake, long in the making, had destroyed the entire southern hemisphere, making it impossible for anyone to safely live there ever again. The northern hemisphere suffered from an influx of immigrants, heading to the U.S.A, Canada, and Russia. Many people fled their homes, but still hundreds of thousands of people died because of their inability to leave the danger zone. It was the most catastrophic disaster in human history and scientists were baffled. What could have caused so much damage, so much death?
For centuries, generations lived in fear, but, after about 500 years, people began to forget the threat of another disaster. By this time earthquake detection was state of the art.  A famous scientist hypothesised that another quake was imminent.  Another quake was coming within the year and this time it would sweep the globe.  Other scientists panicked. How could they stop it? Was this the end of mankind?
A small, private company came up with the answer. Inviting the most powerful and important politicians, world leaders, and scientists to a demonstration of what they said would preserve mankind. They selected ten well chosen test subjects and placed them in ‘Cryo-Tubes’. The guests and workers were then evacuated from the area surrounding the test site. In a brash move by this corporation, a bomb was set off to destroy the building. The guests were horrified. But then, the ten test subjects walked out of the rubble. The company, Genesis Technological Information Corporation aka GenTech revealed that the people contained in the tubes could not be harmed.
Finally, it looked like Earth had hope. But GenTech revealed something else. They only had 100 tubes created and they didn’t have time or resources to make more. Also a problem was the fact that only a specific type of person could be kept safely in the tubes. The plan was to build a facility, locate and recruit 100 people, train them, then place them in the ‘Cryo-Tubes’ and hope that they survived the wave and were healthy enough to bring about mankind once again.
‘What if it does not work!’ cried many.
‘Well, then we tried.’ replied the head scientist of GenTech
The screening process was rigorous. The subjects needed to be young, single, fit, healthy, resilient and emotionally able to handle the deaths of millions of people. If the subject was also an orphan, the better his/her chances were to be chosen.
Starting six months to the wave, the 100 people were moved in to several ‘Cryo-Lab’ locations throughout the northern hemisphere. They practiced drills and sleeping in the pods. Isolated from society, 60 females and 40 males had time to get used to each other. Encouraged to live out the rest of there technological lives, because after the wave, the world was going to basically restart itself. The Earth would rid itself of pollutants and toxins, and history would start again, on a blank slate. When the people were released from the pods all over the Earth, they would have no memory, but they would rebirth countries and rebirth history. Called gods, goddesses, honoured by native peoples, religions. Spoken about through folk tales, myths, superstition, these brave men and women would fade from our memories.
One week before the wave was to hit, 100 people were placed in their pods and they slept. They slept through the destruction of the world, the death of humanity, and the reformation of the Earth.
You might wonder how I know this. I just said that we walked out of the pods with no memory. The world was remade, nothing was spared. How can I know this is real? Well, I have been chosen to be one of the 100 people, for the past 25 reformations of Earth, reincarnated so many times, I know the application test by heart. My name for the moment is Nova Terminus and this is the story of the end of the world.
This is a story I made up, based on a dream I had.
This is just the prologue.

Any ideas for the title will be great! The current one is just not really what I want.

Please, let me know if you have any thoughts, ideas, or if you noticed any spelling/grammer mistakes.
